Energy connections: stay afloat this summer with petroleum products

This is the third post in our energy connections series, where we explore the role oil and gas plays in our everyday lives.

This week, let’s imagine what your summer days would look like without the synthetic rubbers, plastics and other materials that help you stay cool and relaxed. Not just that life jacket or fishing rod, but also the canoe or boat that floats you down the river; your golf bag, tennis racket and baseball bat are all made using petroleum products, as are those plastic plates and goblets adorning your patio table.

Did you know a lot of summer activities include petroleum products.

So next time you’re outside, soaking up a few rays, slap on some sunscreen (from a plastic bottle) and think about how different your life would be without oil and gas.
