Can you trust that transmission pipeline companies are working hard to be safe and environmentally sound? Yes, and here’s why…

Our members work hard every day to provide Canadians with the energy they need in the safest and most responsible way.

But how can YOU trust that the companies operating our nations’ transmission pipelines are working to continuously improve to get their 99.999 per cent safe delivery record to 100 per cent?

But how can YOU trust that the companies operating our nations’ transmission pipelines are working to continuously improve to get their 99.999 per cent safe delivery record to 100 per cent?

It’s a question that Canadians have been asking for a long time – and one that we have been working hard to answer since 2014, when we launched CEPA Integrity First®.

We want to show Canadians that our industry is, without doubt, transparent and accountable. That’s one of the reasons why, in fall 2016, CEPA members achieved a new milestone: the first round of third-party verification of our members’ performance.

Here’s how it works

Each CEPA member provides their self-assessments to a qualified, independent third party for verification. The third parties are experts and technical specialists with deep knowledge of the pipeline industry. The third party validates the self-assessments to ensure the companies are reporting consistently and accurately on their performance.

Emergency management was the first area to be verified. In 2017, control room management and pipeline integrity will undergo third-party verification following the self-assessment stage.

Also this year, CEPA members will perform the first round of assessments on water protection, and determine areas that need continuous improvement.

We want Canadians to know we’re working hard on priorities they share, and that third parties are keeping a watchful eye on our commitment.
