Did you know, as you go through your day, you are probably using thousands of items made with petroleum products? That includes things from the dyes and sweeteners in your toothpaste, to the toothbrush you put it on!

Yes, that minty, white smile is thanks in many ways to petroleum products!

So many of the necessities and comforts we rely on every day are made using petroleum products. Can you imagine what life would look like without them – or without the fuel, infrastructure (like transmission pipelines) and energy we need to get those products to us in the first place?

The Canadian Energy Pipeline Association represents Canada’s transmission pipeline companies who operate approximately 117,000 kilometres of pipelines in Canada. In 2014, these energy highways moved approximately 1.2 billion barrels of liquid petroleum products and 5.4 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. Our members transport 97 per cent of Canada’s daily natural gas and onshore crude oil from producing regions to markets throughout North America.
